The custom sport wheel is the simulated wood wheel. Be careful when shopping for one if you don't know what they look like as there are people on e-bay trying to pass off $89 grant wood wheels as the rare ones to people who don't know any better.by b - Pontiac GTO Forum
Find build sheet or send away for PHS documents (www.phs-online.com) to find out whether it originally came with the judge option.by b - Pontiac GTO Forum
That VIN is for an 8 cylinder LeMans hardtop (no post) built at the Pontiac, MI, plant. It *could* be a GTO. It seems as though most Pontiac and Kansas City built GTOs have a "5N" on the data tag, but there are documented exceptions to this. Only way to know for sure is to find your build sheet in the car or send away for PHS docs - www.phs-online.comby b - Pontiac GTO Forum
Ooops - that should read 4.21" stroke for the 455...by b - Pontiac GTO Forum
If you stroke a 421/428, you're missing the point. The main reason these engines are so desirable is because of their crankshaft. The 4.00 stroke is what sets them apart. In a nutshell, this allows them to rev higher than 455s (4.12" stroke) while making more torque than the 389/400 (3.75).by b - Pontiac GTO Forum
I don't know if you're trying to defend this guy or what, but there is a big difference between a Royal Bobcat with a 428 installed and a FACTORY installed 428. Both would be extremely rare cars IF documented. Especially the latter since it is a "one of none". Funny how this guy gets defensive when questioned and then "can't find" the build sheet.by b - Pontiac GTO Forum
No GTOs came from the factory with 428s. The emblem was most likely added when the engine was replaced.by b - Pontiac GTO Forum
A coupe has a metal frame around the side windows. These cars are often referred to as "post" or "post coupe" cars. Hardtops do not have frames around the windows.by b - Pontiac GTO Forum
Like the previous poster said -- it's getting tough to find genuine GTOs for $8k in the states in decent condition. What's $8k canadian translate to in greenbacks these days? May not be a bad deal if it's what you're looking for, *and* you're prepared to deal with the bodywork involved.by b - Pontiac GTO Forum
Column shift was standard in automatics unless the console option was ordered, as there was no provision for a floor shifter without a console (all bench seat GTOs fit this description by default, as a console was unavailable with a bench seat)by b - Pontiac GTO Forum
I'm looking for a restorable 1965 GTO or Lemans. I live in the Seattle area and am hoping to find something in the pacific northwest/west coast. Any/all leads appreciated. Thanks, Brettby b - Pontiac GTO Forum
As long as it's a real GTO, it sounds like a deal to me. I've passed up a few deals I regret over the past couple of years. These cars are becoming increasingly difficult (and expensive) to find....especially when it comes to project cars.by b - Pontiac GTO Forum
Unless it's a drop top, it's more than a bit overpriced if you ask me. I just saw a sweet '65 Lemans--completely restored--3speed manual/326 for sale online the other night somewhere in Montana for $9k.by b - Pontiac GTO Forum
Yes -- autos came with a column shift if no console was ordered.by b - Pontiac GTO Forum
