What a great profesional post! What you stated is SOOOOO correct for 99% of the way to hire someone for the work in a truly professionally operated shop! I love it, you, welll, you are a business oriented person, not just a "detailer", which of course you just demonstated in your post. My hat is off to you, sir. The ColorGard is the black part of the ETR. It may be sprayed, but in those uses, suggest that after cleaning the parts (like fender flares on a Jeep, scuff with 320 or 400. This will promote a much better bond on smooth parts. Follow up with the UVGard, it may be applied with the sponge over the ColorGard or you can spray it as well. Gun clean-up is soap and water. If you have removed the silicone dressings, got the trim really clean, you can apply just the UVGard from the ETR kit, it will last on a clean surface for years. If the trim is discolored, use the entire system to restore it permanently.by Grumpy2 - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts

Bill, if it was not the time of year it is, one of forgiveness, overlooking past transgrations, I might move forward and say OK. That said, facts are facts, YOU ARE THE ONLY "NUT CASE" THAT POSTS ON THIS FORUM!!by Grumpy2 - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
Just a little tip, Bob. Don't apply the undercoat, who ever makes it, over the dressing. It does not allow it to adhere as well as it is meant to. The silicone's in the dressing just does like iand putting the undercoat over it creates a negative bond., . Grumpyby Grumpy2 - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
I have worked with the majority of the vehicle manufacturers over the past 30 years or so. Their engineers do not know what the composite of the trim is, only that customer complaints come to them. When they would call me I would would ask the usual questions. 1.What is the composition of the trim? 2.Who is the vendor of the part to them? 3.Is it possible to have a conversation with their enby Grumpy2 - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
With my decades of working with such auctions, even being hired to "re-do" the process for Anglo-American, some Manhiem's, etc. they are albout "get the trash out, get the big chunks of dirt out, use lots of glazes, cheap high shine for a day or so silicone dressings and get them across the sales block. After reading and reading and reading, and ahhh, nevermind. You bring up excellent points, which of course will never be addressed. This thing with Bill and his AT5 or whatever, reminds me of years ago when I was in my office, where a there were a number of trains that went by each day, on their way to their terminal. The factory paint warranty is found in your owners manual. Most will state what that warranty covers, usually 12 months or 12,000 miles from date of purchase, not the build date or year of vehicle, and may cover "enviormental damages to the paint of the vehicle." Suggest you take a look at your manual. It may be that Chrysler will cover the cost. While is is not possible to provideby Grumpy2 - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
Shortly before I retired, a distributor sent us a sample of the AutoMagic gel, the blue dyed one. We tested it and found it did just as the company said it would. Gave a nice, quick sort of satin gloss, with no drip, etc. Didn't seem to last all that long, but would be one that a dealer or such would find attractive to use. Understand that a "dressing" is just that. Dressings are like a pair of pants or a shirt, not forever, they come off. Two basic resins used for "dressings", a dimethal silicone oil/fluid or a siloxane resin. Some dimethal oils are either clear or have a yellow/tan tint in concentrate. Most siloxanes are a white color when in concentrate. When water and emulsifiers are addeby Grumpy2 - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
Depends on what one considers a "silicone". "Body Shop Safe" products do not, or are supposed to not, contain dimethal silicone oils/fluids due to the "fish-eye" concern they may create. However, most do contain a "siloxane resin" in the formula as it is not an evaporative oil/fluid. these are of the "amino functional" family. Pro-Techt, Very well put. A well thought out, logical response. Like most people I watch some TV, have some favorite shows. Also, like most, have had the experience of certain commercials. We all realize that commercials pay the bills of the network or show, so tolerate them. To a point. We have all been pushed to that "point' at one time or another. Whoa, Big Guy! Bud said sealant or wax. Do you know why? Because any reflection, created by a gloss surface, will bounce a good portion of the UV's off the surface. Wax? Well, to be honest, some waxes are not going to hold up for more than 30 to 60 days to be sure, however, there are many "waxes" available that are not "waxes" as you lump them together. You can't! People are so "culture derived" that they want instant gratification, and are, in reality, very insecure. Sir, when one posts a question or seeking information on this site, it is a courtesy to take a few minutes and respond. I guess you can, but we found it to be wasteful of product. With the large 9x9 wash mitts, once you load it with the A mixture, can normally do a vehicle with half as much product as using a normal mitt and going back to the bucket time after time.
