Bud, there is a new leather finish coming out later this year or early next year in general production. The coating will be marketed as having higher soil resistance with fluorocarbon and siloxane technology actually built in to the core polymer of the resins. They have a new balanced equation of hydrophobicity, oleophobicity and soil release and should be very durable. However, leather cleanersby Profile Detailer - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts

Doug, I will take that advice with a big FWIW.... because some of that is worth a mint! Very good.... pity there is no "thumbs up" Icon here!! Akin to what Bud mentioned .... you can't sell your service with your face in the side of a car all the time, so I need to brush up on actual sales processes. So my next question is..... "and to top it off cleaning is perceived as a low end job and the people who work in it should receive low wages... " You hit the nail on the head there. Even people who work within the industry have that perception and that is why it becomes a vicious cycle between consumer and business owner. Hi Bud, The only difference I find is that the Steamer is good when you take the wheels off and you don't want excess water spraying everywhere. Its good for standard road-grime, but for the stubborn brakedust I would have to use IronX Paste to shift the heavy stains before steaming down the wheel. With the conditions that wheels endure (brakedust at 270 degrees, for example) the 160 degby Profile Detailer - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
Hi folks, Whats the feedback on the MicroFibre Polishing Pads from Meguiars? They have been a bit expensive for me to ship in on a whim, so I'm just wondering how effective they are, especially on a 3401. If you have any opinion on these questions, as well, it would be great to hear them... How durable are they? How good are they following wet-sanding with 2000 or 3000 grit? You know, I never considered applying it directly onto a wet wash-mitt. The reason I applied with foam is because I found mixing 8 to 1 in a bucket was very wasteful!! I just thought I needed a full bucket to get rid of the heavy dirt safely first. Next time I will just give a regular preliminary wash and then follow up with the ABC. Its a great system and as foam, it works pretty well alrighby Profile Detailer - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts

Hi Ketch, Maybe you can advise on this. I use the ABC system a lot. Its great as a deep cleanser prior to machine polishing. Recently I started to apply the step A through a foam gun though. It seems to work a treat that way. Do you see any issues with that? Also, Step B - the mild oxalic acid. How come this was never released as a wheel cleaner? It removes raildust and metallic contamiby Profile Detailer - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
actually, maybe the settings have been changed a little here now. I couldn't post anything at all for a week or two. Glad you are getting the right audience now, Ketch. Autopia is good although still a little bit of drama and people posting bad advice. Its nowhere near as bad as the Detailing World forum in the UK. I was always a rotary user until about 6 months ago. I have a Flex L602 VR which is big at 3.3kg. Great for German paints that need gentle power. Then I got the Flex L3403 which is 2.2 kg. Initially I got this as a back-up in case the other broke down (never has in 11 years). The 3403 is a great little polisher as well though. But I recently got the XC3401 Orbital Rotary and all I can say is Wby Profile Detailer - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts

I use CQuartz and have tested it well before offering it to my clients. It does offer better scratch resistance. Now its not bulletproof but I coated one side of scrap panel and used a key, coin and nylon brush to test against scratching. There was very big difference. Still some damage but far less than on the uncoated side. The washing is much easier as well due to the hydrophobic effect. Aby Profile Detailer - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
Thanks for that guys. The Vacuboom is a good idea but wouldn't be suitable. Kind of a long story, but people tend to take a shortcut across where I work to get to my neighbours shop and I can't prevent it. So a slip hazard would be replaced by a trip hazard. Hi guys, Is there anything (cheap) that can be sprayed on suds to neutralise them? I'm mainly concerned about car-wash rinsing that flows out beyond the work area.
