How do the lifters look on the lobes that are wearing? I am presuming that you replaced them with the cam too, correct?by md1twal3 - Pontiac GTO Forum
I can tell all of you that Phil will treat you well. He knows his stuff and is a fair an honest seller. He is plenty busy, but has always responded either via phone or e-mail.by md1twal3 - Pontiac GTO Forum
Typically dealer ordered and installed. There are rumors that there were some that were put together at Pontiac as well, which I am sure is true., for R&D. However, none rolled off the line with a RA V that I have ever learned of.by md1twal3 - Pontiac GTO Forum
What date code are you looking for on the 48's?by md1twal3 - Pontiac GTO Forum
kath...no worms opened...this is a forum, and we are all talking cars..I appreciate and respect Marv'se opinion, and I would bet he does the same. There is a lot of truth to what you watched....it is getting harder and harder to find any old cars that havn't been hacked or altered....by md1twal3 - Pontiac GTO Forum
Congrats, Chris! Sounds like your appreciation is well worth your wait!by md1twal3 - Pontiac GTO Forum
Marv - That may have been the case some time ago, but the GTO buyers have wised up, now that they are becoming more valuable. I would venture to say that anyone that is in the market for a GTO is doing their homework and is learning how to tell what it is that they are buying. There are many stories of the past just like you tell, but I have not heard of this happening for a long time. The intby md1twal3 - Pontiac GTO Forum
SR is also as close to original as one will ever get, when considering the value of a car. You may find it here: or on www.wallaceracing.comby md1twal3 - Pontiac GTO Forum
You will get that conflicting information on cloning. Some GTO owners frown on it because of the concern that down the road, the clone will be sold as an authentic, taking advantage of someone that doesn't know any different....and that does happen. I have also heard some say that it only decreases the value of their GTO, because there is "one more out there" to represent GTOs.by md1twal3 - Pontiac GTO Forum
Go to performanceyears.com and then forums and then check the 4 sale section. There was a numbers matching 70 there for $4000.by md1twal3 - Pontiac GTO Forum
Pontiac never kept records to that level of detail...no way to find that out.by md1twal3 - Pontiac GTO Forum
Fax the vin number to www.phs.com (pontiac historical services). They will validate it that way. The only real way that I know of...by md1twal3 - Pontiac GTO Forum
Marv - According to a post on another GTO site...it has been sold...by md1twal3 - Pontiac GTO Forum

Need a 4 spd shifter and rods for a 69 GTO....can you help?by md1twal3 - Pontiac GTO Forum
OK...so if a car is built....say a 400 69 Judge RA III to have 360 HP.....that doesn't mean you will get that much at the wheels, does it????? Seems to me that HP at the wheels may be much different than rated HP. It has been a while....can anyone clarify that for me?by md1twal3 - Pontiac GTO Forum
John....I really would discourage breaking up a numbers matching car. They are getting few and far between! Go out on Performance Years forum and advertise it as it is... No disrespect to you, Marv...I just like to see a numbers matching stay a numbers matching...by md1twal3 - Pontiac GTO Forum
How about a Jan 69 400 block....code not important...by md1twal3 - Pontiac GTO Forum
You could get a RA III GTO with out it being a Judge, but the Judge package included the hood tach, spoiler and stripes. I have been told that if you have a carosel red (orange) GTO that is not a Judge, they are pretty rare. Not sure if rare means more $$ value, though.by md1twal3 - Pontiac GTO Forum
John - Is it a numbers matching car? If so, the value will be significantly higher than one that isn't. The RA III blocks will bring around $1000 each, bare. RA heads will add more. Original carb & distributor, even more. Without seeing it, it is hard to assess a value, but my guess is 5-7 grand as it sits, but being cut up, it could be lower. Again, all original and numbers matchiby md1twal3 - Pontiac GTO Forum
IF the 70 Judge is truly numbers matching, regardless of rust, it will bring SEVERAL THOUSAND itself. Just saw one go for $20K on ebay and it was just as you described...was that yours???by md1twal3 - Pontiac GTO Forum
Timmy - Here is the post. Please contact me, I am interested in the motor... md1twal3@yahoo.comby md1twal3 - Pontiac GTO Forum
Timmy - A while back you had a WS block for a 69 gto. Still got it? Please e-mail me direct at md1twal3@yahoo.com. I am interested but need the date codes.by md1twal3 - Pontiac GTO Forum
No...you have to request the phs documentation and get the code off of it.by md1twal3 - Pontiac GTO Forum
Timmy - What is the date code on the RA III? Is it a YZ or WS by chance? Any price with no work done to it? Thanks - Twby md1twal3 - Pontiac GTO Forum
Well, I actually traded it off on Monday. My wife has a love for Mustangs...a 67 Red convertible to be exact, so I traded it for a Mustang project. She has her dream car, I have mine....my 69 Judge. I am in the process of restoring it, unfortunately I do not have the original fenders showing emblem placement.by md1twal3 - Pontiac GTO Forum
I think you are talking about originality vs. safety upgrades, not numbers matching. In my opinion, you can still have numbers matching (engine, trans, frame, body, rear axle, etc), but still convert your brakes to disc and not decrease the value hardly at all, if any. If you are talking original, you will probably loose show points, but that is really it. I don't know about fender flaresby md1twal3 - Pontiac GTO Forum
