That is exactly what I have got. I have all of the Pontiac Historical Services documentation that shows "The Judge" in the right column, last option. It is indeed a Judge. Mine also looks to be completely original (rough, but original) with no signs of repaint or changes indicating that it is a clone. It is well worth the fees to PHS to find out.by Tony Walton - Pontiac GTO Forum
Looking for advise on which publications have proven to be the best in regard to restoring a GTO. Specifically looking for 1969 GTO Judge info. Can anyone direct me to a good book or steer me away from a book that isn't worth the paper it is written on? Thanks -twby Tony Walton - Pontiac GTO Forum
Was wondering if anyone knows all of the locations where GM stamped the VIN on a 1969 GTO Judge. In the process of a restore and need to know what has to be repaired and what can be replaced. Obviously the tag itself, and I heard frame somewhere, but specific locations would help. Thanks! twby Tony Walton - Pontiac GTO Forum
David - I replied to you directly, rather than through the forum. A few notes for anyone else that is interested: It is a 350 4 Spd car. Engine is a 1972, but runs very strong. It has gauge and tach package, all there and all working. It runs and drives, but needs brake work (I wouldn't drive it any distance). I installed newer exhaust with flowmaster mufflers. It has a 4:11 rear in itby Tony Walton - Pontiac GTO Forum

Bill, if you have the VIN number, you can go to a website called ustrace.com. They can track the last registered owner and will provide contact information. That is how I found my first car. I got my vin # from my insurance company. Let us know what becomes!by Tony Walton - Pontiac GTO Forum
I have been blessed with the opportunity to buy a PHS documented restorable 1969 Judge. Problem is, no title What can I do to get a clean title for this car? I am currently in Wisconsin... Please help me find a way to get this car back on the road!!!by Tony Walton - Pontiac GTO Forum
You are going to need to go to the pontiac historical services website, enter your information about the car (VIN), pay the fee and they will send you the option list for that car. That is really the only true way to determine if your car was equipt with the Judge option. It is money well spent, especially if it is really a judge. I am interested, if you have pics, price and more details, pleaby Tony Walton - Pontiac GTO Forum
AMEN 6t5goat! There is also a 74 on ebay right now with bids up past $10K it is at: One sold out of hemmings last month for over $16K I sure have never seen a 74 Ventura go for that! They must REALLY be GTO's, hey Travis!by Tony Walton - Pontiac GTO Forum
Mike - If you read through my post thoroughly, you will see that I was making reference to a tool that is currently used for ABS that may be able to be used on his GTO. I was not implying that a GTO had ABS.by Tony Walton - Pontiac GTO Forum
The metering valve that you are referring to acts as sort of a dam, in the event that the front brakes lose pressure, you will still have rear brakes & not lose all fluid. If I recall, it is incorporated into the end of the combination/perfortioning valve. If fluid is lost out the front, the valve is supposed to shift in the passage to prevent fluid loss from the rear brakes (and visa verby Tony Walton - Pontiac GTO Forum
Come On, Travis....Options offered pre 66 and post 72 still make it a GTO, whether or not YOU feel that way. Pontiac ended it the way they came in..as an option. Were they the muscle of the later 60's...no, but they should still be respected as a Pontiac GTO. They may not be your cup of tea, but stop flinging insults to those who do like them, and consider them GTOs. Needless insults toby Tony Walton - Pontiac GTO Forum
All - I have a 400 from a 68 GTO that I am planning on putting together for my 74 GTO. As I understand, it was rated at 350 HP stock. Does that sound right? In addition to that I have what I have been told are RA heads. How can I tell? Also, what do I need to do to make them most effective with the 400? Is there a special intake and exhaust manifolds, or what? Thanks for the help....andby Tony Walton - Pontiac GTO Forum
Bill - Unforunately, they didn't break down production of the 4 speed. They just broke it down to manual transmission vs. automatic. They also don't break down color or options, such as the stripes you are referring to. Based on the GTOs that I have seen and researched, fewer than half the manual transmissions have been 4 speed, but that isn't a hard fact. As far as color, Bucby Tony Walton - Pontiac GTO Forum
I also have one of 687 Hatchback manual trans GTOs with the Custom option. Although Pontiac didn't differentiate between 3 & 4 speed, the 3 speed was standard option. Mine has the 4 speed with gauges & tach, as well as the brushed dash surround, as oposed to the standard wood grain. I wish there was a further breakdown, but there isn't & with this combination, it leadsby Tony Walton - Pontiac GTO Forum
Steve - This seems like a no brainer to me....67 Hardtop, hands-down. It is all original, sounds well equipt and in my opinion is worth more than the 66 because nothing is original on it. If you are not bent on a convertible, since you already have one, why not add a hardtop to your collection? It has working AC, so it isn't like you will need the top off to keep cool... I have a rear end out of a 68 GTO. It is not Posi. Is there a particular gear ratio that you need?by Tony Walton - Pontiac GTO Forum
Are you sure it said GTO? It sounds like a GTP or GTZ which I believe were both GP options in the 90's. Never the less, it was not a GTO.by Tony Walton - Pontiac GTO Forum

Sam - The fact that it has 173K tells me that it has been reliable! But...anytime you get miles on a car, and put miles on a car, you run the risk of breaking something! How far are you driving it? If it is across town, no problem. If it is a freeway stretch or a long highway drive, you may want to think about it a bit. Even though it has been reliable, doesn't mean that something isnby Tony Walton - Pontiac GTO Forum
Thanks for the great feedback. I have decided to collect the # matching parts, but put them in a corner, and have some fun with a bit more HP. That way I can enjoy the car as I want it to, but can give it the original value, should I decide to. I appreciate it! Happy Goating!by Tony Walton - Pontiac GTO Forum
Shawn - The best thing to do is "compare apples to apples". By that I mean, get out there and see what people are getting for something simular. Hemmings Motor News is a good resource, as well as e-bay or car shows. If it is as nice as it sounds, is should have a pretty decent value. You should also check for an insurance appraiser of antique and collectors in your area. They wilby Tony Walton - Pontiac GTO Forum
Michael - Black condensation in all cars is common, but most noticed in older cars. The fuel burn of an old carb car is much less efficient, so your black comes from carbon or unburned fuel. The condensation....simple too...The primary by-product of combustion is moisture, or water....that is just chemistry. So, when you mix carbon and water, you get black condensation. Newer cars do it tooby Tony Walton - Pontiac GTO Forum
Chris - I think all of us in here agree that the GTO, regardless of year is already an all-american muscle car, right everyone? As far as the best year...you need to decide that. We all have our favorites. I like all years, but own a 74....is it american muscle, yes, right on the very tail end, but it is... Bottom line is find one that you like, and get it on the road! Good luck!by Tony Walton - Pontiac GTO Forum
I do appreciate the feedback, and this is my 2nd 74. I am very familiar with the "no, its not a Nova" response. I am looking to restore to original and have read conflicting information regarding the engine stamping. PHS gave the data that after 68 the 6 number portion of the VIN # was also the 6 numbers on the engine. I have gone to several GTO sites, and their information conflictby Tony Walton - Pontiac GTO Forum
I have a 74 GTO that is confirmed by PSH as a GTO. So far, I have discovered that the engine is not original. I have located a 350 out of another 74 GTO, but wonder if the value I would hope to gain, is truly a value. I understand that after 68, a portion of the VIN was stamped into the engine as well as specific GTO engine code (for 74 anyway). Sorry, the options are actually N30 and N31. My FAX from the PHS is a bit unclear, but I found the N options at 74GTO.com from another build sheet.by Tony Walton - Pontiac GTO Forum
I have a 74, with two options for steering wheels on the order sheet. It looks like option H30 is for a Custom Cushion steering wheel and H31 is for the Custom Sport steering wheel. Mine is the Z174 Custom, showing the H30 as standard, and the factory invoice provided from PHS doesn't indicate different. The problem is that I don't know what the H30 or H31 look like and mine has aby Tony Walton - Pontiac GTO Forum
