A close look at the steering wheel of these old timers can cause one to gain a real appreciation for the skills required of drivers of early cars. A lot that we take for granted in modern cars had to be done manually - as seen to the right, controlling the fuel mixture and spark timing was the responsibility of the driver. A good understanding of how the car functions was necessary. AND they had to pay attention to where they were going!
